Throwing > Hand-Building...

This week's focus in the ceramic studio is figuring out what I plan on making for my one-source project. I thought I would try to hand-build a jar because hand-building is not my favorite and I felt I should try it again. As I predicted... it is not my cup of tea! I am not sure why I dislike it, but I think it is because it is a slower pace whereas the wheel is faster and in my opinion, requires more constant focus.
So back to the wheel I will go! My original plan was to make bowls, however, I want to incorporate textures inspired by the plant that I brought in, so I think I will just make bowls in my free time because I think a different shape would be better for textures. I am also interested in making lids, so maybe some type of jar with interior designs?
It has been a LONG past two weeks with a lot of school and life issues, so I am trying to get back into the groove of everything. Working with the wood kiln was a lot of fun though! It is always nice to hang out with everyone and bond a bit! Looking forward to being able to come into the studio and work.
