Mugs For The Win...

As I am slowly finishing up my goblet project (ugh), I look forward to making mugs for my next project. My goal is to make a mug that I can actually drink out of instead of mugs that just hold pens. Last semester whenever I attempted to make a set of mugs with neurons on them, to say they did not turn out well is an understatement. I used slip to design the neurons which I was not a fan of and I also wanted to use white underglaze but was not able to do so and ended up using a glaze that I did not like. This time around, I plan on making a few different mug sets.

I know that I would like to make three of my neuron mugs in an attempt to redeem myself. This time I will use porcelain for my clay so that the base/background of my mug is white, and I also will use underglaze to make the neurons. I also believe I will make the neurons bigger this time and stretch them across the entire mug. Then I would like to make either the rest of the mugs marbled out of porcelain and the dark brown clay. I used these two clays together over the summer and I really liked how they turned out, so I think I will use them again. I just need to add handles to them this time around. I am looking forward to making the porcelain clay again, finishing my goblet project, and making more mugs. Fingers crossed I am able to catch up on all of my missing work in all of my classes.
